God by his very nature is generous, kind,  loving and ultimately selfless. He is concerned about our welfare, and  Lavishes gifts upon us on a daily basis. Constantly finding new and exciting ways to bless us each day. Whether we are aware of his presense or not. He is quick to come to our aid, when we call upon his name with sincere repentent hearts.  Because God is generous,  he expects us in the same way to  be generous to other people.  Being generous dosen't necessarily involve giving money, it can be as simple as spending time with someone, offering our services or sharing our skills. Generosity leads to a life of peace, Joy and love. Being generous softens our hearts, lessons our obsessions with material things, and ultimately strengthens our spiritual walk with God.  If you struggle with generosity why not ask the Lord to help you share your gifts and talents with others.

A few passages to help us

"Feed the hungry! Help those in trouble! Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you shall be as bright as day. And the Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy you with all good things, and keep you healthy too; and you will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. ( Isaiah 58:10-11)

For if you give, you will get! Your gift will return to you in full and overflowing measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use to give -- large or small -- will be used to measure what is given back to you." ( Luke 6:38)

Prayer for Generosity written by St Ignatius Loyola

Lord Jesus, teach me to be generous; teach me to serve you as you deserve, to give and not to count the cost, to fight and not to heed the wounds, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labor and not to seek reward, except that of knowing that I do your will. Amen.
