Peace

Title of illustration "We three" depicting the Father, son and Holy Ghost.

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. (John 14;27 NIV)

Most of us when we think of peace usually imagine a calm tranquil environment with no negatives to spoil our peace. However the kind of peace that Jesus was talking about was very different. True peace comes from having a quiet confidence in God that strengthens you in times of adversity and uncertainty.

Passages to help us reflect on peace

So then, let us follow after things which make for peace, and things by which we may build one another up. (Romans 14:19) NIV

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, (Galations 5:22) NIV

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.  (philippians 4:7) NIV

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you.  (Isaiah 54:10)

Food for thought

Peace like Joy is something that we need to continually strive for in our daily lives, asking God to direct us and support us accordingly.
